Jeong Seon-hee Reveals She Rescued 12 Abandoned Dogs While Hosting 'Animal Farm'
Broadcaster Jeong Seon-hee shared a touching story about fostering 12 abandoned dogs during her time as an MC for the SBS program 'TV Animal Farm'.
A YouTube video uploaded on the channel 'Jeong Seon-hee's Runaway Dog' on the 5th, titled 'Can Cats Rewrite Their Lives? Attention Cat Sitters Wanted. Kittens That Will Steal Your Heart Are Here', featured her story.
While visiting a friend's animal shelter to promote adoption, Jeong Seon-hee recalled her past with pets. "I used to raise up to 12 dogs back then. Now, only two remain," she revealed.
She explained how her journey with rescued animals began. "It started when I took in a Shih Tzu. A middle school boy entrusted a Shih Tzu puppy, not even 100 days old, to me. The puppy had contracted tetanus from a wrong vaccination and its liver was severely damaged. The parents couldn't afford the treatment costs, so I took it in. That dog lived to be 19 years old," she shared, her voice filled with emotion.
Jeong Seon-hee continued, "Starting with that dog, I ended up taking in more whenever people asked for help because they couldn't raise them anymore, and suddenly I had 12 dogs. I don't take in requests like that anymore," she said with a laugh.
She also recounted a humorous anecdote involving comedian Lee Young-ja's manager. "One of the dogs I adopted out was sent by Lee Young-ja's manager. It was special from three months old. But then the dog's mother told me, 'That dog is like that because it's with Young-ja.' Lee Young-ja grumbled, 'Why are you blaming innocent people?'" This story brought laughter from the audience.
Jeong Seon-hee has been a beloved MC for 'TV Animal Farm' from 2001 to 2008 and again from 2014 to the present.
Korean netizens reacted warmly to Jeong Seon-hee's story, with comments like 'Watching Animal Farm, I always felt Jeong Seon-hee truly loves animals', 'It's amazing that you cared for 12 dogs. You did a wonderful thing', and 'You're still raising two dogs, right? Wishing you and your pets a long and happy life!'
