Following its unprecedented success, the animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has officially confirmed its sequel production, cementing its place as Netflix's highest-grossing film ever.

According to foreign media reports on the 5th (local time), Netflix and Sony Pictures have finalized the contract for the sequel, aiming for a 2029 release and commencing full-scale production.

Since its release on June 20th, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' shattered records, surpassing an astonishing 300 million viewing hours. This monumental achievement dethroned the previous record holder, Season 1 of 'Squid Game'.

The main OST, 'Golden' by the fictional K-pop group 'Huntrix', dominated the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, holding the number one spot for a total of eight non-consecutive weeks. Other tracks like 'Your Idol' and 'Soda Pop' also became global playlist staples, turning the entire soundtrack into a mega-hit.

Director Maggie Kang, who helmed the first film, previously stated at a press conference in Seoul, "There's still so much of the backstory that I haven't fully revealed to fans, and I have many ideas." In other interviews, she expressed a desire to "showcase various Korean music styles such as trot, heavy metal, and pansori in the sequel," hinting at a broader exploration of K-culture beyond just K-pop.

Fans are buzzing with excitement over the sequel news. Comments range from "K-pop's global dominance continues!" to "Can't wait for more! The soundtrack was amazing." The success of the film and its music has clearly resonated with a wide audience.
