Epik High's 'Noodle Quest': Osaka Ramen, Taipei Beef Noodles, and Hong Kong Wonton Noodles Face-Off
Korean hip-hop legends Epik High have embarked on a culinary adventure across Asia, searching for the ultimate noodle dish.
In a video released on their YouTube channel 'EPIKASE' on the 6th, titled 'I Want to Live Thin and Long Like Noodles', members Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz took fans on a journey from Seoul to Osaka, Taipei, and Hong Kong.
Before indulging in the iconic Ramyeon by the Han River, the trio decided to embark on a mission to find the best noodles in East Asia, a concept that perfectly aligned with their ongoing Asian tour.
Their first stop was Osaka, where they bypassed traditional ramen shops for a trendy spot offering spicy variations. Mithra Jin, opting for level 4 spice, struggled, comparing it to 'Yeol Ramen', while Tablo, on level 2, found it reminiscent of 'Malatang'. DJ Tukutz recalled an incident where Tablo secretly made his curry spicier.
Next, they traveled to Taipei to sample classic Beef Noodles. After tasting both clear and spicy broth versions, Tablo noted a 'herbal' undertone. All members praised the tender meat and chewy noodles. DJ Tukutz found the Beef Noodles comforting compared to the intense Osaka ramen, while Tablo humorously revealed he keeps his will written as videos and text due to frequent touring.
In Hong Kong, their destination was a Wonton Noodle shop. The clear broth dish was a refreshing contrast after their spicier meals, earning positive reviews. DJ Tukutz, known for his picky eating, devoured the Wonton Noodles at an impressive speed, leading Tablo to declare it the 'number one'. The group also discussed success, defining it by '50 billion won' and 'timing', with Tablo citing Psy's 'Gangnam Style' to emphasize preparedness.
Returning to Seoul, Epik High concluded their noodle exploration with the quintessential 'Han River Ramyeon' from a convenience store. Mithra Jin favored Osaka's ramen, Tablo chose Hong Kong's Wonton Noodles, and DJ Tukutz humorously declared his own attempt at Han River Ramyeon a failure.
Epik High continues to engage with fans through diverse content released weekly on their YouTube channel.
Netizens reacted enthusiastically, with comments like 'Epik High's food vlogs are always the best,' 'It's so fun watching their chemistry,' and 'I want to eat noodles while touring too!' showing their appreciation for the content.
