GIDLE's Miyeon Opens Up About Pressure for Second Solo Album 'MY, Lover'
Miyeon, a member of the K-pop group (G)I-DLE, has shared her feelings ahead of the release of her second solo album.
A video uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Hyeri’ on the 7th, titled ‘Miyeon can say things like this?! Our meaningless conversation has changed,’ featured Miyeon as a guest. She discussed her upcoming comeback after 3 years and 6 months with her second solo album, 'MY, Lover.'
"It's been 3 years and 6 months since my last release. I was so busy with activities that I didn't realize how much time had passed," Miyeon said, reflecting on her return. She candidly admitted to feeling pressure, especially after her successful first solo album. "Because it's the second one, I felt a lot of pressure. I've gained more experience, and I felt like I had to do even better, both as a solo artist and for the team," she confessed.
However, Miyeon revealed a shift in her mindset. "I realized that my previous approach felt too unlike myself and wouldn't work. So, I decided to 'take some of the pressure off,' and things started to flow much more smoothly," she explained. When asked about sharing her progress with her fellow group members, she stated, "I didn't share the middle process with anyone. They knew I was preparing an album, but I was too afraid to ask anyone when I wasn't confident myself." She elaborated, "I thought that after promoting for years, I was the one who knew this best. It felt like a homework assignment for myself, so I couldn't ask."
Hyeri commented, "You sound so mature. It's suddenly unfamiliar. The way Miyeon kept these thoughts to herself gives off a mature vibe." Miyeon agreed, adding, "Don't people talk about everything when it's not work-related? For something like this, even the company doesn't really know the answer." She hinted that this album is a more personal reflection of herself compared to her first solo release.
Korean netizens expressed excitement, with comments like "So looking forward to Miyeon's solo comeback!", "Her first solo was great, I wonder how much she's grown this time?", "It was touching and impressive to hear she worried alone without telling the members first", and "As expected from Miyeon's solos, I can trust and listen."
