Sunmi Admits Envy of IU's Voice, Wishes to Sing 'Gashina' Together

Singer Sunmi expressed her admiration for IU's clear vocal tone, revealing a desire to perform one of her songs with the artist.

On the broadcast of JTBC's entertainment show 'Knowing Bros' aired on the 8th, Sunmi, Lee Chan-won, and Song Min-jun appeared as guests for the 'I am a SOLO Singer' special, showcasing their witty conversations.

During the show, MC Kim Young-chul asked the guests if there was a song they wished they could have sung.

Lee Chan-won was the first to respond, mentioning fellow singer Young Tak's hit song 'Jjin-iya'. He expressed regret over not being able to choose the song due to the selection order at the time. He recalled, "It was Hero's turn, then mine, then Young Tak's, but 'Jjin-iya' wasn't chosen by those before me," adding, "I wondered if it would connect as a trot song, but surprisingly, everyone knows 'Jjin-iya'."

In contrast, Sunmi described her own voice as having a "slightly lower-mid tone and a husky quality," and confessed her envy of IU's pure and clear vocals. Sunmi stated, "I really like IU's voice," and mused, "Opposites attract."

Sunmi then imagined how her song 'Gashina' would sound if sung with IU's voice. She remarked, "IU's rendition would probably be more clear and delicate. I'm really envious," reaffirming her affection for IU's vocal style.
