Kim Hyesung (LA Dodgers), who achieved a sensational World Series championship in his debut MLB season, has remained silent regarding the debt issues involving his father.

Appearing on JTBC's 'Newsroom' on the 9th, Kim Hyesung shared his excitement about the World Series victory with anchor Ahn Na-kyung. In a pre-recorded interview, Kim expressed, "The championship itself is deeply meaningful. It was a goal I wanted to achieve as a baseball player, and I'm so happy to have won in my debut year in Major League Baseball." He mentioned receiving his championship ring during the home opener.

When asked if he felt disappointed about being brought in during the final inning of Game 7 of the World Series, Kim replied, "I wasn't nervous when I went in; I was more nervous while preparing." He added, "Rather than disappointment, there's regret. I'm a baseball player and I want to play in games, but not all players can get on the field. I approached this series with the mindset of performing my given role well."

Reflecting on his season, which began in the minor leagues after his posting, Kim stated, "I wasn't disappointed. I knew I might go to the minor leagues the moment I posted and signed the contract. I prepared myself by thinking about how I could advance to the Major Leagues."

Regarding the perceived gap between Korean and Japanese baseball, highlighted by the performances of Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Kim acknowledged, "Seeing Japanese pitchers succeed in Major League Baseball, the difference is a reality. However, Korean baseball also has a future and potential for development, so I believe Korean baseball will have brighter days ahead."

Finally, Kim expressed his aspiration to have his number retired permanently, saying, "I want to become a player whose number is permanently retired. Isn't that cool?" He concluded by thanking the fans: "Although I didn't play well this year, thank you for your support. I'll do better next year and show my face more often on the baseball field."

Previously, upon his return to Korea, Kim Hyesung faced a protest from creditor 'A,' who demanded repayment of his father's debt. Kim had requested that the protestor be restrained before conducting his interview. Kim's side has maintained their stance on the debt issue, stating, "It is as previously reported, and we have nothing further to say on this matter."

Kim Hyesung's agency has stated that the father's debt situation is 'as previously reported,' choosing not to comment further. This indicates their stance that Kim Hyesung himself bears no legal responsibility, while also aiming to prevent further escalation of the controversy. Among fans, there's a mix of support for Kim's talent and efforts, alongside expressions of sympathy for his family's situation.
