G)I-DLE's Miyeon Faces Backlash Over 'Excessive Photo Editing' After Shuhua
Miyeon, a member of the K-pop group (G)I-DLE, has become the latest target of fan criticism regarding excessive photo editing.
A selfie of Miyeon was uploaded to the group's official X (formerly Twitter) account on the 9th. However, fans quickly noticed unnatural elements in the photo, sparking widespread discussion.
Notably, Miyeon's finger, used to cover her chin, appeared unnaturally bent, clearly showing signs of Photoshop manipulation upon closer inspection. Furthermore, her facial features were altered from her original appearance, creating an awkward atmosphere.
It is common for agencies to receive original photos from members and then edit them before uploading them to official social media. In Miyeon's case, fans believe the unnatural outcome is due to the agency's "unauthorized editing."
Fans who saw the selfie commented, "She's beautiful without editing, why the need?", "Look at her bent finger," and "She looks so different from reality."
Fans expressed their disappointment, with comments such as: "They're beautiful enough without any editing, why do they feel the need to alter photos so much? It's hard to understand.", "Miyeon is a visual genius even without edits...", and "It caused a stir with Shuhua last time, and now it's Miyeon's turn. The agency should do their job properly."
