In a world where justice has failed, someone must step forward. When laws cannot fulfill their role and only good victims are exposed to crime, a black notebook shakes the world. A fatal warning states, "The person whose name is written in this note will die in 40 seconds," and the thrilling battle of wits between the genius student Light and the brilliant detective L begins.

Based on the popular Japanese manga of the same name, the musical 'Death Note' depicts the intense psychological struggle between Light, who obtains the Shinigami's notebook, and L, who pursues him. The fast-paced plot and Frank Wildhorn's addictive music intertwine to explore the precarious boundary between good and evil in the name of justice.

Returning to the stage two years after its 2023 encore performance, this season captivates audiences with its upgraded perfection. The 3-sided LED production that breaks the limits of the stage, lasers and lighting that delicately express emotions, and musical numbers that explode with anger, sadness, and love boast unchanging artistic merit and box office success.

This season is particularly filled with the fresh energy of its 'new cast.' Instead of the original actors who led the show's success for 10 years, new faces have taken on the roles of Light and L, filling the stage with their unique charms. Jo Hyung-gyun, Kim Min-seok, and Lim Gyu-hyung are cast as 'Light,' and Kim Sung-kyu, Sandeul, and Tang Jun-sang as 'L,' offering audiences a new level of immersion.

Veteran actor Jo Hyung-gyun, with an energy that defies his age, perfectly portrays the high school student Light. Tang Jun-sang, a former member of the musical 'Billy Elliot,' showcases the skills honed in screen and television. Kim Min-seok of MeloMance also demonstrates his potential as a 'musical actor' with upgraded vocal abilities and acting skills.

Producer Shin Chun-soo stated, "While there were concerns about challenging this season with a completely new cast, I gained confidence watching the rehearsals." He particularly praised the excellent chemistry between the actors in the duet song 'The Game of Love' and emphasized the fantastic teamwork of the 'Death Note' cast.

'Death Note' portrays the limitations, desires, and subsequent corruption experienced by humans, not gods. The apple offered by the Shinigami Ryuk becomes a test of humanity, akin to the forbidden fruit in the Bible, and both Light and L face harsh consequences for challenging the realm of the gods. Ultimately, the message is that human arrogance cannot escape divine judgment.

Playing until May 10th of next year at the D Cube Arts Center in Seoul, the musical 'Death Note' will present different charms in its first and second runs. Audiences can experience a profound resonance through this 'Death Note,' which delves into humanity's endless desires and contemplation of the divine.

This season of the musical 'Death Note' is making headlines for replacing all the main actors who had led the show to success for the past decade. Concerns and expectations coexisted regarding how the void left by legendary actors like Hong Kwang-ho and Kim Junsu, who were part of the original cast since 2015, would be filled. However, the new cast members are receiving rave reviews for taking control of the stage with their individual charisma and outstanding skills, breathing fresh vitality into the production. Online communities and social media are buzzing with reactions like "The new Light and L actors' performances are insane," "As expected, Death Note never disappoints!", and "Today's casting was the best," reflecting the audience's high satisfaction.
