Park Mi-sun Appears on 'You Quiz on the Block' for First Time Since Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Comedian Park Mi-sun has made her first television appearance since her breast cancer diagnosis, sharing her honest journey with viewers.
In a pre-released clip for tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' Park appeared with a short haircut and a calm demeanor, directly addressing speculations and fake news surrounding her health. "I came out to report I'm alive because there were too many fake news stories," she stated, explaining her reason for appearing on the show.
Recounting the moment of her diagnosis, she confessed, "It didn't feel real. My stamina hasn't fully returned yet." She opened up about the harsh realities of treatment, revealing, "I can't use the word 'fully recovered' for my breast cancer." Park described her hospitalization for pneumonia, enduring intense antibiotic treatments for two weeks, which left her feeling like she was dying despite the life-saving intention.
Despite the physical and mental toll, Park maintained a positive outlook. She even joked about her short hair, saying, "When I cut my hair, I said I looked like Furiosa," bringing laughter to the set.
She expressed gratitude for the timing of her illness, saying, "I'm grateful I got sick in the winter, and grateful I received treatment in a cool place during the summer." This mindset, she shared, made the treatment process feel surprisingly enjoyable.
Park also emphasized the overwhelming support she received, stating, "I realized how much love I'm getting now that I've been sick." She repeatedly thanked her fans and colleagues for their unwavering encouragement.
The pre-release clip concluded with surprise video messages from acquaintances, bringing Park to tears and heightening anticipation for the full episode. Park had halted all broadcast activities in January due to health concerns, and news of her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis and treatment followed. Her agency, Cube Entertainment, previously stated that she is recovering well.
Fans and netizens expressed overwhelming support online. Comments included, "Thank you for returning healthy, Ms. Mi-sun," "We are always rooting for you," and "It's amazing how you speak so calmly." The outpouring of encouragement highlighted the public's admiration for her courage.
