A former manager of popular singer Sung Si-kyung, identified as Mr. A, has been reported to the police on charges of illicitly acquiring profits over several years.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 10th that it has received a complaint against Mr. A for embezzlement and violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

The complainant, in the filed documents, drew parallels between this case and the 'Ohtani Shohei interpreter incident' that garnered significant attention across the United States. The complainant emphasized that the pursuit of private gain by exploiting a celebrity's trust must be decisively punished.

Previously, the interpreter for baseball star Ohtani Shohei shocked the public with allegations of embezzlement, despite their long-standing relationship.

Mr. A, who worked as Sung Si-kyung's manager for approximately 17 years, is accused of diverting concert VIP tickets and pocketing the proceeds into an account under his wife's name.

Regarding such betrayals, Sung Si-kyung had previously expressed his distress, stating, "Experiencing a breach of trust from someone I believed in and cherished like family isn't the first time in my 25-year career, but even at my age, it's not easy."

Despite these difficult circumstances, Sung Si-kyung is scheduled to hold his year-end concerts from December 25th to 28th, upholding his promise to his fans.

Korean netizens expressed their sympathy, commenting, "It's so sad to be betrayed by someone you trusted," and "Mr. Sung Si-kyung must be going through a lot. Stay strong." Many also called for the truth to be revealed.
