Hollywood heartthrob Timothée Chalamet is facing a wave of criticism for what many are calling an anachronistic statement regarding childbirth.

In an interview with Vogue U.S. released on the 6th, Chalamet initially deflected questions about his relationship with model Kylie Jenner. However, he then brought up another celebrity's interview, stating, "I heard an interview where a well-known figure said, 'I don't have children, so I have more time to do other things.'" He commented, "My friends and I watched that interview and talked about how depressing it was."

Chalamet continued, "I don't have plans to get married yet, but I do think I'll have children someday. While there are people who can't have children, 'procreation' is the reason we exist," he expressed his personal beliefs.

He further elaborated, referencing his co-stars: "Zendaya is engaged, and Anya Taylor-Joy is married. The time will come when I'll start a family. Abandoning family for personal greatness would be selfish," he added.

Upon the interview's release, Chalamet's remarks about childbirth were met with backlash, with many deeming them outdated. The general consensus is that decisions about children are a private matter, and no one has the right to judge them.

Chalamet has garnered global fame for his roles in films such as 'Call Me By Your Name,' the 'Dune' series, and 'Wonka.'

Netizens online are divided, with some defending his right to express his personal beliefs while others argue his comments overstep personal boundaries, stating, "Everyone's life choices should be respected, but generalizing it is a bit much," and "A life without children should also be respected; isn't that a bit selfish?"
