Park Mi-sun's Brave Return: First TV Appearance Post Breast Cancer Battle, Reveals 'Not Fully Cured,' Treatment Was 'Like Dying'
Comedienne Park Mi-sun is receiving widespread support following her courageous return to television, marking her first public appearance since battling breast cancer. She shared a tearful confession, offering strength and encouragement to viewers.
Park Mi-sun will be a guest on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' airing on the 12th, after a significant hiatus from the spotlight.
In a pre-released preview, she appeared with short hair, smiling brightly and stating, "There's so much fake news, I came on to prove I'm alive." Beneath her smile lay the strength forged through a difficult period of illness.
Park Mi-sun was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer at the beginning of the year, leading her to halt all broadcast activities to focus on treatment. In the preview, she admitted, "Many people will be surprised to see me like this. I bravely came forward," but then calmly added, "This is breast cancer for which we cannot use the word 'fully cured.'"
She continued, "I was hospitalized with pneumonia and received antibiotics and IV fluids for two weeks. My face swelled up, and it was so difficult. It was treatment to save my life, but I felt like I was dying," bravely recounting the arduous treatment process for the first time.
Despite the hardships, Park Mi-sun maintained her characteristic positivity. "I'm grateful I got sick in winter, and grateful I could receive treatment in a cool hospital room during midsummer. I realized I was receiving so much love while I was sick," she shared, showing her resilient spirit.
Long-time colleague Yoo Jae-suk warmly welcomed her, saying, "I missed you so much. Our friend is back and healthy," to which Park Mi-sun replied with tears welling up, "I only now realize how much love I've been receiving."
Park Mi-sun temporarily suspended her activities in January due to health issues, and her breast cancer diagnosis subsequently worried her fans. Her husband, Lee Bong-won, reassured the public that she was "receiving treatment well and taking time to recharge." Actress Sunwoo Yong-nyeo also added to the relief, stating, "Her complexion has improved. She has almost recovered." Her heartfelt return is expected to deliver a message of hope and courage to many viewers.
Park Mi-sun's tearful confession and the warm reception will be broadcast on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' at 8:45 PM on the 12th.
Korean netizens expressed their support with comments like, "Park Mi-sun, you've been through so much. Wishing you only happy days ahead!", "I teared up watching the broadcast. Always cheering for you!", and "Glad you overcame the difficult times. Stay healthy!"
