BOL4's Ahn Ji-yeong Reflects on 'Veiled Musician' Judge Role, Recalls Audition Memories
Singer Ahn Ji-yeong, known for her role in BOL4, has shared her thoughts on becoming a judge for SBS's new audition program, 'Veiled Musician.'
Attending the production presentation held at the SBS building in Mokdong, Seoul on the 12th, Ahn Ji-yeong spoke about her feelings of sitting on the judge's panel as a former audition program participant.
"This year has been one of many changes for me," she stated. "I approached it with the mindset of trying everything, and thankfully, I received the offer to be a judge."
She continued, "As someone who has experienced audition programs, that environment feels very familiar. I took on this role with the desire to re-experience the nostalgia of those times."
Ahn Ji-yeong identified the criteria for passing contestants as those who "intelligently interpret their innate, undeniable talent and flair in their own unique way."
She also candidly discussed her feelings about being labeled a "former audition program contestant." "Honestly, the label 'audition program alum' has often felt uncomfortable," she confessed. "However, recalling the passion and attitude towards music back then makes me realize again how much I loved music."
She concluded by saying, "At times during the judging process, the contestants' passion felt so intense that I felt almost apologetic. It was a fulfilling and happy time while running the program, and a precious moment to reminisce about the past."
Meanwhile, 'Veiled Musician' is a survival program where contestants compete solely based on their voice and musicality, hiding aspects like appearance, age, and educational background. It will be released on Netflix for 8 weeks starting the 12th, followed by 'Veiled Cup,' a program to determine the best in Asia, scheduled to air on SBS in January.
Netizens reacted positively to Ahn Ji-yeong joining as a judge, with comments like, "Excited to see BOL4's vocalist as a judge," "Advice from an audition veteran will be a great help," and "Cheering for your new challenge!"
