Park Mi-sun to Appear on 'You Quiz on the Block' Post Breast Cancer Battle, Debuts Shaved Head Look
Comedienne Park Mi-sun, who halted all activities due to her battle with breast cancer, is set to meet the public once again. In an appearance on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' airing on the 12th at 8:45 PM, Park Mi-sun will share her experiences fighting cancer and her candid thoughts during this period.
Park Mi-sun had suspended all her schedules in January citing health reasons. It was later revealed she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. While her agency remained discreet, citing personal medical information, her condition was confirmed through close acquaintances and colleagues.
Focusing on treatment and recovery with widespread support, Park Mi-sun is now stepping in front of the camera approximately 10 months after announcing her hiatus. Her appearance on 'You Quiz on the Block' is reportedly her only scheduled event through 2025, drawing significant attention.
In a recently released preview video, Park Mi-sun surprised viewers with her shaved head, a result of chemotherapy treatment. She remarked, "I think many people will be surprised by this appearance. It's a very bold look. I actually came out bravely."
Recalling the moment of her diagnosis, she confessed, "I couldn't believe it. My stamina hasn't fully returned yet." She elaborated on the difficulties, stating, "The treatment was to save my life, but I felt like I was dying." However, she conveyed her overcoming the ordeal with her characteristic positive attitude.
"I was grateful even for being sick in winter, and grateful for receiving treatment in a cool place during the height of summer. With this mindset, the entire treatment process was quite enjoyable," she shared. "So many people worried about me. I truly realized how much love I've received only after falling ill."
Furthermore, anticipation is high for her sharing personal stories, including a daily 'Mom's Battle Diary' meticulously kept by her daughter over the last 10 months, changes in her husband Lee Bong-won's demeanor, and intimate family moments that brought her small joys. It's also said that messages from her colleagues, revealed for the first time, brought her to tears.
Expressing her feelings about her return to broadcasting after 10 months, Park Mi-sun admitted, "I agonized over whether to appear, and then agonized again over whether to wear a wig. But because so many were curious and worried, I gathered my courage to film. It's my only schedule this year. I talked about various things on 'You Quiz,' and I'm a little worried as it's my first broadcast in a while. Anyway, thank you to everyone who has worried about me."
Many are offering their heartfelt support and applause for Park Mi-sun's courage.
Netizens expressed strong support upon hearing the news, with comments like 'It's so good to see you finally, Ms. Mi-sun! Happy to see you looking healthy,' 'Cheering for your shaved head bravely! Keep fighting till the end,' and 'We'll be watching 'You Quiz' live to support you!'
