NewJeans to Resume Activities Post-'Revolution' Attempt; Sincere Apology Crucial for Rebuilding Trust

After over a year of conflict, girl group NewJeans is expected to continue their activities under ADOR without parting ways with the agency.

NewJeans emerged as a symbol of innovation in K-pop, later positioning themselves as agents of 'revolution' by attempting to gain independence from their agency, ADOR. However, this bid ultimately failed following a legal dispute, and it appears NewJeans will resume activities with ADOR.

Before returning to the stage, however, NewJeans faces the critical task of offering a sincere apology to regain public trust. Their recent actions have drawn criticism for undermining respect for the K-pop industry, the judiciary, and fellow artists.

Their disparaging remarks about the K-pop system are seen as hypocritical, given the industry's role in their success. Furthermore, expressing dissatisfaction with the court's decision could be interpreted as a disregard for the fundamental principles of the constitutional order.

Most disappointingly, involving and seemingly demeaning fellow artists in their dispute has deeply disillusioned the public. This disregard for the rights and reputations of their peers invites accusations of 'selective respect for human rights.'

While ADOR prepares for NewJeans' comeback, the members must first acknowledge their wrongdoings and offer a heartfelt apology. Performances without sincere remorse will likely be difficult for the public to accept.

Netizens reacted to the news of NewJeans' return by stating, "A sincere apology is the first step," "Many were hurt by this situation," and "If they return, we hope they show only a good image," expressing a cautious outlook.
