Renowned child psychologist and "national mentor" Dr. Oh Eun-young has shared a deeply emotional account of her battle with cancer, revealing how she cried out her son's name in anguish before undergoing surgery.

During a special tribute episode of the KBS2 show 'Immortal Songs' aired on the 15th, Dr. Oh was asked by host Shin Dong-yup about a song with a philosophical message about life being temporary. The question prompted her to recall a difficult period in 2008.

"I was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008," Dr. Oh revealed. "And they also found a tumor in my gallbladder." She described the overwhelming thoughts that raced through her mind as she walked to the operating room. "I could tell my parents I'd see them again later, and I figured my husband would be okay. But my child... that was the one thing unresolved," she conveyed with a heavy heart.

"As I walked to the surgery room, I just kept calling my child's name," she shared, her voice thick with emotion. "I wished I'd touched him one more time, hugged him one more time, met his eyes one more time, played with him one more time. I went into surgery whispering, 'I love you.'"

Providing an update on her health, Dr. Oh stated, "I no longer have my gallbladder. The colon cancer was caught early, so I recovered well and am doing fine." She also shed tears while listening to Ali's rendition of Cho Yong-pil's 'I Hope So Now' on the show, expressing her wish for the song to give strength to those undergoing long treatment journeys.

Netizens expressed their sympathy, commenting, "Dr. Oh must have gone through immense emotional pain," "Her love for her son is so touching and heartbreaking," and "It's a relief that you've recovered and are healthy now."
