Kim Gun-mo Returns After 6 Years: Resumes National Tour with Composed Demeanor Amidst Fan Cheers
Singer Kim Gun-mo is successfully continuing his national tour concerts, receiving a warm welcome from fans in his comeback performances after a 6-year hiatus.
Kim Gun-mo successfully completed concerts in Busan on August 27, Daegu on October 18, and Daejeon on December 20. The tour is set to expand to major cities nationwide, including Seoul in January next year.
Ahead of the performances, Kim Gun-mo's side stated, "Even during his break, Kim Gun-mo's music has not stopped, with his songs being covered by junior artists and re-evaluated through new media. Although he was away from the stage, he never let go of his music for even a single moment."
This marks Kim Gun-mo's first official return to public activities in approximately six years, following accusations of sexual assault in 2019. At the time, he halted his ongoing national tour concerts and strongly denied the allegations, pursuing legal action.
During this period, he also experienced personal hardships, including marrying and later divorcing pianist Jang Ji-yeon. Although the case concluded in 2022 with prosecutors deciding not to indict and all appeals and review requests being dismissed, a comeback was not immediately possible.
Breaking his six-year silence and now meeting with fans through his national tour, Kim Gun-mo has shown a remarkably composed demeanor. At the concert held at Suwon Sports Complex on the 15th, he humorously introduced himself, saying, "I rested well, and around 5 years later I thought 'now it's time (to return),' but then I saw the ad slogan 'Hongsam is 6 years,' so I rested one more year and appeared in a very good state."
In his closing remarks, Kim Gun-mo expressed his gratitude, stating, "Thanks to your support, I will live without paying attention to comments." Furthermore, through a subtitle message in a video, he showed strong determination, saying, "Were they white spaces, or deep darkness, those moments when life sometimes stopped? Regardless, we just have to move forward again. This time, it won't be a 'comma,' but a 'period.'"
Kim Gun-mo is scheduled to continue his national tour, meeting fans in cities like Daejeon and Incheon.
Netizens have welcomed his return, commenting, "I'm so moved to finally see Kim Gun-mo on stage again," "I support him as he overcomes difficult times," and "It's good to see him focus solely on his music."
