Comedienne Jo Hye-ryun Shares How She Overcame Rumors and Envy, Advising on 'Momentum' in Life
Comedienne Jo Hye-ryun has candidly discussed the hardships she faced in her life and shared her approach to overcoming them with 'momentum'.
In a YouTube video released on the 15th on the channel 'Choi Eun-kyung's Management Office', Jo Hye-ryun resonated with host Choi Eun-kyung's comment about her seeming ability to 'bounce back up even when frustrated'. She opened up about life's challenges.
"My life has had many difficult moments. It was the same with my children, and there were hardships related to marriage. I also faced various rumors while working in broadcasting," she confessed. She further added, "I also felt envious when colleagues I worked with secured MC positions."
However, Jo Hye-ryun emphasized the importance of maintaining a sense of 'ownership', refusing to be discouraged. "When we appear on a show together, even if someone is the MC and I am a panelist or guest, I think about having ownership of that broadcast," she advised. "You never know where good fortune will come from. It's about engaging with challenges in your work and trying things that give you energy." She added that she finds satisfaction in this process.
Jo Hye-ryun notably debuted in the Japanese broadcasting industry in 2005, a rare feat for a Korean female comedian at the time. However, she experienced difficulties due to anti-Korean sentiment and baseless rumors. She divorced in 2012 and remarried a performing arts producer in 2014, with whom she has a son and a daughter.
Netizens praised her resilience, commenting things like, "Thanks for the encouraging words, Jo Hye-ryun!", "Her positive energy is truly the best!", and "It's admirable how she doesn't let rumors get to her."
