Kim You-jung Opens Up About the Challenges of Child Stardom
Actress Kim You-jung has candidly revealed her feelings about the overwhelming attention she received during her childhood as a young star.
In a video uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Yeo-jeong Jae-hyung' on the 16th, Kim appeared as a guest and shared her thoughts with host Jung Jae-hyung.
Jung Jae-hyung, acknowledging Kim's immense popularity since her child acting days, expressed his curiosity about how she lived her everyday life, particularly during her school years.
Kim stated, "I've rarely talked about that before." She recalled, "There were no masks back then, so I went to school comfortably." She then shared, "I attended three different elementary schools, and each time, it caused quite a stir within the school," eliciting laughter.
Recalling the past, Kim said, "At first, my friends were amazed, saying 'She's a celebrity,' but as we got closer, they treated me like any other friend, so I was able to enjoy my school life."
When Jung Jae-hyung asked if it was happiness or fear when everyone called out 'You-jung-ah' in elementary school, Kim honestly replied, "At that time, I disliked that my friends saw me differently."
She further elaborated, "It was particularly difficult when the boys would tease me because of my role as a baby gumiho in 'The Great Gisaeng' when I was 12. I sometimes felt exhausted by their jokes, like asking me to 'show my teeth.'"
Netizens have responded to Kim You-jung's honest confession with support, commenting, "How difficult it must have been at such a young age," "But you overcame it well and became a great actress," and "Fighting, Kim You-jung!"
