The global girl group CATS EYE has revealed that they have been subjected to death threats online since their debut. In an interview with the BBC released on November 11th (local time), member LaLa shared the emotional toll the threats have taken. "Even if you try to act like it doesn't bother you, when over a thousand people send you death threat messages, it's shocking," she said. "Even though I know it won't actually happen, it weighs on me heavily."

LaLa, who is of Indian descent and American, also stated that she has faced racist hate comments and was falsely reported to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for allegedly residing and working in the US illegally. To cope with the negativity, she has deleted her Twitter (X) account. "I realized that you don't have to take everyone's opinions," she added.

Member SoFii emphasized, "Our careers are still short, but so many words have already been thrown at us and our families." She continued, "It's true that we chose to be in the public eye, and I know that's part of fame. But that doesn't mean we aren't human."

LaLa expressed frustration, saying, "People just see us as women and rank us. They give us scores for our looks, our singing, our dancing, and then average it out as a percentage. It feels like a dystopia." Manon added, "The mental pressure is immense."

CATS EYE, a global girl group project by HYBE and Geffen Records, has been nominated for two Grammy Awards: 'Best New Artist' and 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' for the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards on February 1st. Ahead of the ceremony, they will embark on their first North American tour, with 16 shows across 13 cities starting November 15th.

Netizens reacted with concern and support, stating, 'It's sad that K-pop groups active overseas also face such issues,' 'Strong punishment is needed for malicious commenters,' and 'We support CATS EYE's future endeavors.'
