Bae Jung-nam Finds Hope for Marriage After Heartbreaking Farewell to Beloved Dog Belle
Actor Bae Jung-nam, known for his deep bond with his dog Belle, has moved viewers with the emotional story of their parting, and is now receiving support for news of his marriage prospects.
Last October 19th, the SBS show 'My Little Old Boy' aired the final chapter of Belle's life, bringing tears to many viewers' eyes. Belle tragically passed away last month due to sudden cardiac arrest. Having miraculously recovered from a diagnosis of complete paralysis due to an acute disc condition over 17 months, Belle’s passing left Bae Jung-nam with an immeasurable sense of loss.
Bae Jung-nam couldn't hold back his tears as he stayed by Belle's side, saying, "You could have lived a little longer. Dad is sorry." At the crematorium, he cried out, "Oh no, our baby, it must be so hot…" as he grieved, holding Belle's ashes close and bidding a final farewell, "Rest peacefully now, without pain."
For Bae Jung-nam, who has lived alone since childhood, Belle was his family, his friend, and the reason for his life. He confessed, "Meeting Belle was the first time I felt like I had a family," making his sorrow even more palpable.
Amidst this grief, a glimmer of hope emerged. In the episode aired on the 16th, Bae Jung-nam was seen consulting a fortune teller. The fortune teller predicted, "Marriage luck has arrived. A person will enter your life soon." He also advised, "Be careful of horses and tigers. Especially those born in the Year of the Tiger (1986) could get hurt." Bae Jung-nam responded with a hint of bitterness, "That was a close call. It's someone from three years ago," referring to a past relationship.
The fortune teller described Bae Jung-nam's life as "a man full of sorrows, with a nail driven into his heart," but also offered a bright outlook: "Starting next year, a 10-year great fortune will begin, opening paths for both business and finances." He further elaborated, "You have overcome near-death experiences multiple times since childhood. Your destiny is to help others, so much so that you could be called a monk's fate."
This accurately touched upon Bae Jung-nam's past, growing up raised by his grandmother and separated from his parents, and the difficult times he endured alone, surprising viewers.
The fortune teller even correctly identified that Bae Jung-nam had performed ancestral rites in the past. He revealed, "A close friend became a shaman and offered to perform the first ritual for me. I felt a lot of guilt for not being able to attend ancestral ceremonies, but I felt at peace after the ritual."
Earlier this year, Bae Jung-nam had mentioned on a TV show, "If Belle gets healthy, I'd like to consider marriage." He expressed a desire to start a normal family and stated, "My ideal type is a woman who wants to live in a traditional Korean house (hanok)." Hearing from the fortune teller that "a good relationship will come soon" has spurred fervent support from viewers.
Online comments flooded in, with netizens expressing, "I hope he meets a good person and starts a family now," "He endured so much hardship, I truly hope he finds happiness," and "It seems a warm spring is finally coming for Bae Jung-nam." Viewers are sincerely rooting for him to find new love and build a warm family as he recovers day by day from the deep sorrow of Belle's passing.
