Yoon Ji-min Concludes Her Role in 'Wooju Merry Me' with Emotional Farewell
Actress Yoon Ji-min has wrapped up her portrayal of Min-jeong in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Wooju Merry Me’, a character whose journey was marked by continuous twists.
In the drama, Yoon Ji-min captivated viewers as Min-jeong, who not only aided her lover Han-gu (played by Kim Young-min) in embezzling funds but was also willing to commit murder if necessary.
Simultaneously, she conveyed the desperate maternal instinct to protect her son, even after a profound betrayal by the man she believed to be her love, leaving a complex and lingering impression.
Particularly shocking was the revelation late in the series that Min-jeong was the culprit behind the truck accident that led to the deaths of Woo-ju’s (Choi Woo-shik) parents, with a birthmark on her neck serving as the crucial clue.
Ahead of the finale, Yoon Ji-min shared her thoughts: “In ‘Wooju Merry Me’, I was called by many names. Mistress, Oh Min-jeong, Jessica, Sylvia Oh, murderer, and mother… I was happy to be able to act in such a diverse range of roles, even if for a short time. I am grateful for all the anger you felt towards Min-jeong’s misdeeds, and the affection you felt after her betrayal by Han-gu.”
Following her chilling transformation into a stepmother in the recently released MBN drama ‘Chunggun’, Yoon Ji-min’s acting spectrum has been further broadened by her continuous portrayal of vastly different characters, including Min-jeong in ‘Wooju Merry Me’, who oscillated between desire and maternal instinct. She is also expanding her reach to viewers through her YouTube channel, ‘Yoon Ji-min & Kwon Hae-sung's Hi High’, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from drama sets and everyday moments with her family.
Korean netizens praised her performance, commenting, “Yoon Ji-min’s acting range is truly wide! Looking forward to her next project,” and “The Min-jeong character was so chillingly realistic. The immersion was top-notch!” Others expressed empathy, noting, “Even as a villain, her protectiveness towards her son was touching.”
