The infamous duo Jang Chen and Wi Seong-rak from 'The Outlaws' have reunited, not as villains this time, but as heroes.

At the production press conference for ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces' held on the 17th at the Pullman Ambassador Seoul Eastpole in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, actors Yoon Kye-sang and Jin Seon-gyu shared their excitement about working together again.

Jin Seon-gyu humorously likened their chemistry to 'tteokbokki skewers' (sotteok-soetteok), to which Yoon Kye-sang playfully apologized for his 'unsophisticated' friend, creating laughter.

'UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces' tells the story of ordinary citizens with hidden special skills who team up to protect their neighborhood. The plot unfolds when Choi Kang (Yoon Kye-sang), an insurance investigator, moves to Changri-dong in Gi-yun City, and a series of suspected terrorist explosions occur.

Yoon Kye-sang plays Choi Kang, a former special forces agent. He expressed his desire to do action roles before getting too old, stating, "I wanted to try action before I got too old." He added with confidence, "After filming the action scenes, I realized there are still opportunities for me at my age."

Jin Seon-gyu portrays Kwak Byeong-nam, the head of the neighborhood youth association and a former technical sergeant. "I even wore a poorly grown beard and paid attention to my hairstyle," he said, describing his character as "someone who could exist in any neighborhood."

This reunion marks their first project together in eight years since their roles as the chilling villains Jang Chen and Wi Seong-rak in the 2017 film 'The Outlaws.'

Yoon Kye-sang emphasized their "even stronger chemistry" this time. Their close bond was evident throughout the press conference, with constant playful banter. Jin Seon-gyu described their relationship as being like a 'soetteok-soetteok,' a popular street food skewer where sausage and rice cake are paired.

Yoon Kye-sang and Jin Seon-gyu were cast simultaneously at the director's suggestion. They confirmed their participation by texting each other, asking if the other would join.

Expectations are high to see if the Yoon Kye-sang and Jin Seon-gyu duo can recreate the sensation of Jang Chen and Wi Seong-rak. Jin Seon-gyu joked, "Back then, I was under Jang Chen, but now I'm on equal footing as the youth association president. I'm pushing back as much as I can."

Yoon Kye-sang has no intention of shedding the 'Jang Chen' and 'Wi Seong-rak' image. "This is my first time showing bright comedic acting with (Jin) Seon-gyu," he said. "More than worrying, I'm excited that we can finally show our real-life chemistry."

Netizens are expressing high anticipation for their chemistry. Comments include, "So excited to see the Jang Chen x Wi Seong-rak combo again," "It's fresh to see them as heroes this time," and "It's always funny when those two get together."
