The production team behind MBC's entertainment show 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' has expressed their joy over the program's high viewership ratings and hinted at the possibility of a second season.

A press conference to mark the conclusion of the show was held on the afternoon of October 17th at the MBC building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Director Kwon Rak-hee, along with directors Choi Yoon-young and Lee Jae-woo, attended the event to share insights into the program's journey.

'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' documents the ambitious project of volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung as she embarks on a new career as a team founder and director. Premiering on September 28th, the show gained significant traction through word-of-mouth, achieving a peak viewership rating of 4.9% (Nielsen Korea, nationwide household basis) and garnering immense public interest.

Director Kwon Rak-hee shared his delight, stating, "I am so happy. I wake up every morning excited to check the ratings." He added, "When we first started this project with Director Kim Yeon-koung, I felt immense pressure not to tarnish her career. I felt a great responsibility because she trusted me and joined us. Being able to repay that trust with a good process and outcome is a huge relief."

He continued, "It's a great happiness for me as a director to have provided good content to the viewers." Regarding the overwhelming requests for a second season, he promised, "I will do my best to persuade Director Kim Yeon-koung, the players, and everyone at MBC to bring you good news for Season 2, in response to your passionate support."

On the possibility of year-end awards, he commented, "It's a great honor for a director to even be mentioned for year-end awards. However, we still have the final episode left, and we are working hard week by week to produce the best results without time to think about awards ceremonies. I will fully enjoy that aspect once everything is over and I can relax."

Meanwhile, the final episode of 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' is scheduled to air on the 23rd.
