Nana's House Intruder Arrested for Robbery and Assault; Claims Lack of Funds

A man in his 30s has been arrested for breaking into the home of singer and actress Nana (real name Im Jin-ah) and attempting a robbery.

According to the Guri Police Station on the 17th, the Uijeongbu District Court's Namyangju Branch issued an arrest warrant for suspect A (30s) on charges of special robbery and assault, citing a risk of flight.

Suspect A allegedly broke into Nana's residence in Acheon-dong, Guri City, around 6 AM on the 15th, armed with a weapon. He is accused of threatening Nana and her mother, inflicting injuries, and demanding money. During police questioning, A reportedly stated that he was unaware the residence belonged to a celebrity and committed the crime due to a lack of living expenses. Police have determined that A was unemployed and that the crime was not targeted specifically at Nana or driven by her being a sasaeng fan.

Investigators believe A climbed a ladder to enter through the veranda and gained access through an unlocked door. He is accused of resorting to violence, including strangling Nana's mother. However, Nana and her mother managed to overpower him with their bare hands after a struggle and immediately called the police. A sustained a laceration to his jaw during the altercation and received medical treatment. Nana and her mother also suffered injuries and received treatment.

Police initially booked A for attempted special robbery but upgraded the charges to special robbery and assault after obtaining Nana's mother's medical records. A police official stated, "It appears he entered after finding the door unlocked while scouting for a location," adding that they are consulting with the prosecution regarding the recognition of self-defense in relation to the suspect's injuries.

Nana's agency stated, "Nana and her mother were deeply shocked, but they responded calmly, preventing further harm." Netizens commented, "Nana and her mother are truly brave," "She could probably act in action movies given her idol background," and "It's so scary that something like this happened at home."
