Kim You-jung Opens Up About Diet Struggles: 'Eating Was My Whole World'

Actress Kim You-jung has candidly shared her past difficulties with dieting.

In a YouTube video uploaded on March 16th to the channel ‘Yoojeong’s Kitchen’, titled 'You-jung’s Broadcast Raised by All of Us Since Age 4, and the Story Behind It,' the actress discussed her past.

When asked about being a big eater, Kim You-jung admitted, "I did eat quite a bit. I can't eat that much now because I have to manage myself. My whole family are big eaters; our portions are huge."

She also recalled childhood struggles, saying, "In a household with an older brother, it's different. You have to eat fast, or everything gets taken. My sister and I used to hide snacks under our beds or in the closet because we were afraid they'd be taken."

Regarding dieting, Kim You-jung reflected, "It was tough back then. When I was young and in my prime eating years, not being allowed to eat made me feel very upset. I'm naturally someone who eats a lot. I was completely serious about food; eating was my whole world."

She continued, "After dieting and managing myself a lot, I lost the joy of eating. I'd eat a salad, and if a single leaf of lettuce didn't taste good, I'd get angry. Food really made me sensitive."

Kim You-jung also revealed, "Now, I can control my binge eating. When I was in middle or high school, I had a treasure box-like container in my closet. I'd save up chocolates there. I'd resist eating them when I wanted to, saving them up. Then suddenly, one day, when I felt 'Why do I have to restrict myself like this?', I'd eat them all within 10 minutes," detailing her past struggles.
