G-Dragon Lights Up Busan Fireworks Festival's 20th Anniversary in Spectacular Fashion
The Busan Fireworks Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary, concluded with an unprecedented scale, featuring K-pop icon G-Dragon and drawing massive crowds. The festival, which began in 2005 to commemorate the APEC Summit, has grown into South Korea's largest fireworks display, attracting over a million visitors annually.
This year's event, held on November 15th at Gwangalli Beach, saw a record-breaking 1.17 million attendees. The highlight was a special fireworks show synchronized with G-Dragon's music from his album 'Ubermensch'. Approximately 90,000 fireworks illuminated the night sky over Gwangalli, set to the original soundtrack.
A unique 'hologram glass' technology, co-developed by Galaxy Corporation and Slashbash, was used to create three-dimensional graphic effects with the fireworks, offering a differentiated 'entertrainment' experience.
Busan city officials commented, "For our 20th anniversary, we injected new vitality into the festival with spectacular fireworks and the participation of a K-pop artist." They added, "This served as an opportunity to showcase the charm of Busan as a global tourism hub to the world." The involvement of a world-renowned K-pop artist is seen as more than just a performance, but a move to elevate Busan's global city branding.
Netizens raved about the event, with comments like 'The fireworks synchronized with G-Dragon's music gave me goosebumps,' 'Truly an epic scale! So lucky to live in Busan,' and 'The hologram glass was amazing, looking forward to more collaborations like this.'
