Kim Min-jong & Ye Ji-won's 'Firenze' Wins 3 Awards at Hollywood Film Festival: 'Still Feels Unreal'

Actors Kim Min-jong and Ye Ji-won expressed their joy and surprise after their film 'Firenze' secured three accolades at a Hollywood film festival.

Appearing on the KBS1 show 'Morning Yard' on December 18th, the stars of 'Firenze' shared their thoughts on the prestigious wins. The film, slated for a Korean release on January 7th, had its original December 26th release date postponed. However, a special pre-release screening for eager fans has been arranged. Ye Ji-won noted the overwhelming demand, stating, "It started on November 26th, but I believe all tickets are already sold out."

Addressing the warm international reception, Kim Min-jong expressed his gratitude. Upon hearing about the three awards, he exclaimed, "What is this? I never thought something like this would happen in my life." Ye Ji-won echoed his sentiments, confessing, "I can't believe it."

Kim Min-jong highlighted the significance of this award, marking his first film festival award since receiving the Popularity Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 1996. He admitted, "It still doesn't feel entirely real," especially given the Hollywood recognition.

Kim Min-jong described 'Firenze' as a "healing film about a middle-aged man who travels back in time to Florence, Italy." He elaborated on his role as a 50-something man seeking to heal past wounds by reclaiming lost time. Ye Ji-won revealed insights into her character, stating, "I don't have many lines in this role, but the silence and lingering emotions are crucial. I'm curious to see how the audience will receive it," expressing anticipation for sharing the film with viewers after its release.
