Musical 'Death Note' Welcomes New Cast Members Kyuhyun and Kim Sung-chul for 'New Light' and 'Legendary L'
The hit musical 'Death Note' is set to captivate audiences until May 10, 2024, at the D-Cube Arts Center, with the exciting addition of Kyuhyun and Kim Sung-chul to its second cast lineup.
Audicom Company, the production house, is introducing a fresh dynamic to the ongoing performance by bringing in Kyuhyun as the 'New Light' and Kim Sung-chul, a legendary figure from previous seasons, to reprise his role as 'L'.
Kyuhyun, a member of the renowned group Super Junior, will take on the challenging role of 'Yagami Light', a genius high school student who stumbles upon the Death Note and seeks to deliver his own brand of justice. Kyuhyun has already established himself as a powerhouse musical actor through acclaimed performances in 'The Man Who Laughs' and 'Frankenstein', shedding any preconceptions about idol-turned-actors.
Kim Sung-chul, who previously defined the role of 'L' with his 'manga-ripped' visuals, sharp intuition, and meticulous observation skills, is returning to the stage. He was instrumental in creating the 'Death Note syndrome' during the last season, dominating the stage with his unique portrayal, detailed embodiment of the character's mannerisms, and energetic vocals, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The musical, based on the popular Japanese manga of the same name, depicts the intense psychological battle between 'Light', the brilliant student aiming to eradicate societal evils with the Death Note, and 'L', the brilliant detective determined to unmask him.
With the synergy between the new cast members and the returning actors, the production promises to heighten the inherent tension and immersion of the narrative. The return of the legend and the debut of a new protagonist are expected to deliver an even more powerful and overwhelming stage experience for the audience.
'Death Note' will continue its run at the D-Cube Arts Center in Seoul until May 10, 2024.
Fans are buzzing with excitement over the casting news, particularly the addition of Kyuhyun as Light and the return of Kim Sung-chul as L. Comments like "Finally seeing Kyuhyun as Light!", "It's not Death Note without Kim Sung-chul's L", and "This season is going to be legendary" are flooding online forums.
