Hollywood legend Tom Cruise has finally received an Oscar honor, closing the chapter on his previous snubs from the prestigious Academy Awards.

On November 17th (local time), international media outlets like Variety and People reported that Cruise was presented with the Honorary Award at the 16th Annual Governors Awards held in Los Angeles. According to the Academy, the Honorary Award is bestowed to recognize outstanding contributions to cinema through lifelong achievement, exceptional breakthroughs in film art and sciences, or distinguished service to the Academy.

During his acceptance speech, Cruise expressed his gratitude towards Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, stating, "Your work is beautiful. It's truthful. And it's very human." He also paid tribute to his fellow honorees.

"I am so grateful to be standing here tonight," Cruise said. "I'm thrilled that I can honor the people who have helped me along the way and everyone I've had the privilege to make movies with."

Reflecting on his lifelong passion for filmmaking, Cruise shared, "The world has become so much bigger than I ever dreamed. It has led me to want to understand humanity, to create characters, to tell stories, and to see the world. In the theater, no matter where we are from, we laugh, we feel, we hope, and we dream, together. That is the power of this art form."

He further emphasized his deep connection to cinema, adding, "Making movies is not my job. It's my calling," highlighting his profound dedication to the craft.

Tom Cruise had previously been nominated for an Academy Award four times for his roles in "Born on the Fourth of July," "Jerry Maguire," "Magnolia," and "Top Gun: Maverick." This Honorary Award marks a significant milestone, finally acknowledging his immense contributions to the film industry.

Fans worldwide are celebrating Tom Cruise's honorary Oscar. Comments flooding social media include "He deserves this so much!", "A true legend finally gets his recognition," and "Can't wait for Top Gun 3 after this!".
