Kim Min-jong Denies 'Container House' Living on 'My Little Old Boy' Was Real, Addresses Freeloading Rumors

Actor Kim Min-jong is drawing attention after confessing that his 'container house' living, previously revealed on 'My Little Old Boy', was actually a broadcast setup, and clarifying rumors of freeloading.

In November 2020, Kim Min-jong appeared on SBS's 'My Little Old Boy' as a new cast member, showcasing his solitary life in a container box house in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. His minimalist 'naturalist life' with a simple kitchen, small bed, and morning routine of tending a wood fire captured viewers' attention.

His emotional confession about needing alcohol to sleep after his mother's passing particularly resonated with the audience. The show's MCs expressed surprise at his contrasting charm, remarking, "He looks like a handsome hermit."

However, during a recent appearance on KBS1's 'Morning Yard', Kim Min-jong revealed the 'real story' behind the broadcast, clearing up viewers' misunderstandings.

"It was broadcast as if I lived in a container, but it was actually a setup for the show," he honestly stated. He explained, "It was shortly after my mother passed away, and there was a place nearby where she was laid to rest, so I filmed in Yangpyeong. Many people actually thought I lived in that container."

Kim Min-jong also shared a humorous yet poignant anecdote about people worrying about his appearance, asking, "Why is he living like this these days?" during the time he grew out his hair and beard.

Furthermore, he addressed the rumors of 'freeloading' at a restaurant. "I didn't leave without paying; I intended to pay, but the restaurant owner wouldn't accept my money," he clarified.

Recalling the incident, Kim Min-jong said the owner told him, "Why are you living like this? You used to be so handsome. I won't take your money, just live healthily." He added with a laugh that even explaining it was for a role didn't convince her.

Finally, he assured viewers, "I am healthy and living well in Gangnam," resolving any lingering doubts.
