K-pop Star Miyeon of (G)I-DLE Expands Horizons: Solo Success, MCing, and Global Audition Judge

(G)I-DLE member Miyeon is carving out a diverse path, excelling in both solo endeavors and as a show host.

On the morning of December 18th, Miyeon departed for Japan to film SBS's 'Veiled Cup', showcasing a stylish winter airport fashion. She opted for a beige oversized padded jacket as her main piece, with a short, puffy quilted jacket that balanced practicality and style, catching the eyes of fans.

Miyeon has joined the judging panel for the global music audition project 'Veiled Cup'. This competition brings together the top three contestants from each country in the 'Veiled Musician' project, which is being simultaneously conducted across Asia, for a vocal showdown. 'Veiled Cup' is scheduled to air on SBS in January.

She will be judging alongside top vocalists such as Tiffany, 10cm, Ailee, Paul Kim, and Henry, leading a fair audition process where participants compete solely on their voices and musicality.

Miyeon recently solidified her position as a solo artist with her second mini-album, 'MY, Lover'. Released on December 3rd, the album surpassed 200,000 initial sales, marking a career high and more than doubling the sales of her first mini-album. The title track, 'Say My Name', topped the Bugs real-time chart immediately after its release and ranked high on major music sites like Melon. It also secured the number one spot on major Chinese music platforms QQ Music and Kugou Music, topping charts both domestically and internationally.

International media outlets have also taken notice. American pop culture magazine Stardust praised her for "exploring new sonic textures while retaining delicate expressiveness," and Italian magazine Panorama commented on Miyeon "breaking K-pop's formulaic mold and returning to narrative."

Miyeon successfully concluded her two-week promotional activities for 'Say My Name' on the SBS show 'Inkigayo' on December 16th.

Her busy schedule continues as she is set to host and perform at the 'Dream Concert Abu Dhabi 2025' on December 22nd in Abu Dhabi. She will be taking the stage alongside artists like ATEEZ, Seulgi, and Joy from Red Velvet at the Etihad Park, marking the first world tour stop for this representative K-pop concert series that has been running since 1995.
