Tom Cruise Reacts to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Divorce with 'Karma': Report
Hollywood star Tom Cruise reportedly expressed his thoughts on the divorce of his ex-wife Nicole Kidman and singer Keith Urban, labeling the situation as 'karma'.
According to a Daily Mail report on the 18th (local time), Cruise (63) commented on the end of Kidman and Urban's 19-year marriage, stating, "He felt it was karma, recalling the unfair public opinion he faced back then."
A source, who requested anonymity, told the International Business Times, "When Tom and Nicole divorced, all the blame was placed on Tom, and Nicole was portrayed as the victim." The source added, "Nicole publicly made pointed remarks, even belittling his height on television, but Tom had to endure all the criticism in silence."
"From Tom's perspective, who hasn't forgotten that time, Nicole's current divorce seems like a form of 'poetic justice'," the source continued. "At the same time, knowing Nicole's pain, he is in a complex emotional state."
The source further elaborated, "Tom felt uncomfortable even when Nicole was praised as a 'perfect couple' with Keith Urban." "He believed their vastly different styles made it difficult for them to last, and it seems he feels his prediction has now been proven right."
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were married in 1990 and were together for 11 years before their separation in 2001, reportedly due to religious differences (Scientology and child-rearing disputes). Cruise later remarried Katie Holmes in 2006 but divorced again in 2012. He is also reported to be out of contact with Holmes and their daughter, Suri.
Meanwhile, Keith Urban, who had remained silent since the divorce, recently resumed his social media activity after about two months, promoting his reality program 'The Road', which selects 12 emerging artists for an opening act on his US tour.
Netizens reacted to Tom Cruise's statement, with comments like, "Tom, you must have complex feelings because of past events," and "While Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's situation is sad, Tom Cruise's perspective is also understandable."
