Baek Do-bin Prioritizes Family Over Career, Wife Jung Si-a Moved to Tears
Actor Baek Do-bin revealed his heartfelt decision to prioritize parenting over his career, an act that brought his wife, actress Jung Si-a, to tears.
Appearing on the JTBC entertainment program ‘Open House, Two Households’ last Tuesday, Baek Do-bin explained his choice, stating, “I felt that time spent with my children held greater value than my work.”
He emphasized that when faced with a choice between career and family, his children and family always come first. His wife, Jung Si-a, supported his decision, noting that Baek Do-bin had turned down numerous promising acting offers to focus on raising their children.
Baek Do-bin reflected on the passage of time as he watched his children grow. He shared, however, that meeting his wife marked a turning point in his life, significantly altering his perspective and filling him with gratitude for his life. He also disclosed that he was previously a staunch advocate against marriage.
Upon hearing this, Jung Si-a became emotional, recalling how their children recently remarked that Baek Do-bin reminded them of actor Tony Leung. She expressed regret, thinking, “My husband had his own dreams back then, and I think I took him for granted and burdened him too much.”
She continued with tears in her eyes, “I always strived to be a good mother, but I wonder how much effort I put into being a good wife.”
Baek Do-bin, the son of veteran actor Baek Yoon-sik, married Jung Si-a in 2009. They have a son and a daughter.
Korean netizens lauded Baek Do-bin's parenting philosophy, commenting, 'This is the true image of a father and husband,' 'It's heartwarming to see you two together,' and 'I can feel how touched Jung Si-a must have been.' The public expressed their empathy and support for his values.
