
Actor Kang Nam-gil Reveals Battle with Heart Attack: 'I've Faced Death Three Times'
Actor Kang Nam-gil has revealed that he recently underwent a stent insertion procedure due to a heart attack, drawing concern from the public.
Appearing on TV CHOSUN's 'Perfect Life' set to air on the 19th, Kang Nam-gil shared his recent health struggles with broadcaster Lee Sung-mi, stating, "I've come close to death three times," surprising viewers with his candid confession.
Recalling two previous serious health crises, he said, "I collapsed from a heart attack in 1999 and was in critical condition, and it struck again in 2009." He further added, "I was diagnosed with a heart attack in April of this year and had three stents inserted," intensifying worries about his health.
Regarding his current condition, Kang Nam-gil honestly expressed, "I'm better now, but I'm always fearful when I go outside."
Heart attack is an emergency condition caused by blocked coronary arteries. Comedian Kim Soo-yong also recently collapsed from the same condition, receiving angioplasty and currently recovering. Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu has also previously shared his experience with a heart attack. Major causes of heart attacks include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stress, and overwork. Prevention involves regular exercise, healthy eating habits, and quitting smoking.
