Lee Yi-kyung's Agency Issues Third Statement, Vows 'No Mercy' Against Rumormongers
The agency of actor Lee Yi-kyung, Sangyoung ENT, has released its third official statement addressing ongoing defamatory rumors, reaffirming their commitment to a firm stance.
In a press release issued on the 19th, Sangyoung ENT stated, "We have previously informed you that we have taken legal action against the author of posts concerning actor Lee Yi-kyung for charges of blackmail and defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection."
The agency explained that while they promptly filed a complaint and completed the complainant's statement shortly after becoming aware of the incident on the 3rd, they understand that securing the suspect's identity and concluding the investigation will take some time.
"We are currently confirming the progress through our legal representative and are cooperating to the best of our ability to expedite the results," they added. "Due to the extreme damage caused to the actor and the agency by the malicious actions of the author and distributors, and recognizing that such actions are subject to punishment both domestically and internationally, we plan to continue our strong response without any leniency, even if it takes time."
Sangyoung ENT also requested continuous reports of malicious posts via their official social media accounts, stating that they are reviewing all submitted rumor tip-off emails.
Lee Yi-kyung was recently embroiled in private life rumors initiated by an overseas netizen identified as 'A', who shared alleged SNS messenger conversations containing sexually explicit content. Lee Yi-kyung's side declared the claims 'groundless' and announced legal action. Although 'A' initially apologized, claiming the revelations were AI-generated, they subsequently retracted their apology and insisted the exposés were true, causing significant confusion. Amidst this turmoil, Lee Yi-kyung stepped down from his role on MBC's 'How Do You Play?' and also withdrew from a scheduled appearance on KBS 2TV's 'The Return of Superman'.
Korean netizens have largely voiced support for the agency's firm stance, commenting, "The truth will be revealed soon," "We support your strong action," and "Hopefully, no more victims will emerge." Many hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing situation.
