Son Ye-jin Wins Best Actress at Blue Dragon Awards, Mentions Husband Hyun Bin and Son
Actress Son Ye-jin was honored with the Best Actress award at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, expressing her heartfelt gratitude.
The ceremony, held on December 19th at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, saw Son Ye-jin take home the prestigious trophy for her role in the film 'The Unavoidable'. This marks her second Best Actress win at the Blue Dragon Awards, her first being in 2008 for 'My Wife Got Married'.
Visibly moved, Son Ye-jin began her acceptance speech by saying, "I always prepared my acceptance speech when nominated, but I couldn't prepare one this time. I honestly wondered if I deserved to receive this award right now." She added, "My vision is a bit blurry right now."
She continued, reminiscing about her first win at 27 years old. "When I first won Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Awards at 27, I said it was difficult to be a 27-year-old actress and that this award would give me strength. Now, before turning 45, after a decade has passed, you've given me this award again. The Blue Dragon Awards, in a way, was the first dream I had as an actress, and you've helped me achieve it."
Son Ye-jin, who made her comeback in 'The Unavoidable' after a seven-year hiatus following her marriage and childbirth, shared her excitement about working on the film. "I was so thrilled and happy when Director Park Chan-wook asked me to join. I also had doubts about whether I could do well. Thank you for creating such a wonderful character even with a limited role. Seeing Byung-hun senior's acting beside me was incredibly inspiring."
Reflecting on her personal life, she stated, "After getting married and becoming a mother, I feel many different emotions and my perspective on the world is changing. I want to become a good adult. I want to continue to grow and remain a good actress by your side."
She concluded her speech by sharing the joy with her loved ones: "I will share this joy with the two men I love dearly, Kim Tae-pyeong (Hyun Bin) and our baby, Kim Woo-jin," drawing laughter from her husband, Hyun Bin, who had previously accepted the Best Actor award.
Korean netizens lauded her win with comments like, "Congratulations, Son Ye-jin! Truly a deserving win!", "So heartwarming to hear her mention Hyun Bin and their son Woo-jin," and "Her acting has become even more profound after becoming a mother. We'll continue to support you!"
