Heo Sung-tae Channels 'Won Bin' and 'Stephen Chow' for 'The Informant' Role, Sparking Laughter
Actor Heo Sung-tae has revealed the humorous behind-the-scenes process of preparing for his role in the upcoming film 'The Informant'.
The press preview screening, held on November 20th at CGV Yongsan IPark Mall in Seoul, was attended by director Kim Seok, alongside actors Heo Sung-tae, Jo Bok-rae, and Seo Min-ju.
'The Informant' is a crime action comedy centered around Oh Nam-hyeok (Heo Sung-tae), a disgraced former ace detective who gets entangled in a major case with an informant named Jo Tae-bong (Jo Bok-rae). Heo Sung-tae takes on the role of the once-brilliant detective, now demoted, showcasing a wide range from intense action to comedic performances.
When asked about his character preparation, Heo Sung-tae shared, "I didn't prepare extensively in a conventional sense. Director Kim and I discussed the character, and I felt a sense of resemblance. I contemplated, 'How would I handle this situation?'" He added, "On set, I frequently communicated and improvised freely with my fellow actors, and the director provided excellent guidance."
He further elaborated on his approach to action sequences: "For the action scenes, I internally told myself, 'I am Won Bin from 'The Man from Nowhere',' and thanks to the action team's fantastic choreography, I was able to complete the challenging scenes." He concluded with a chuckle, "During the comedic parts, I kept telling myself, 'I am Stephen Chow.'"
'The Informant' is scheduled to be released on December 3rd.
Netizens reacted with amusement, commenting, 'Heo Sung-tae's character analysis is hilarious lol,' 'Won Bin and Stephen Chow, truly a reliable actor!', and 'Can't wait to see the movie! Looking forward to the comic action.' The responses express high anticipation for the film.
