VVUP Shines with Debut Mini-Album 'VVON', Showcasing Unique 'Dream of Conception' Theme

The K-pop group VVUP (Kim, Paeon, Su-yeon, Ji-yun) has officially entered the music scene with the release of their first mini-album, 'VVON', marking a significant new beginning.

The title 'VVON' is a portmanteau of 'VIVID', 'VISION', and 'ON', symbolizing 'the moment the light turns on'. Drawing inspiration from the similar pronunciation to 'Born' and spelling to 'Won', VVUP unfolds a narrative of rebirth, awakening, and triumph.

Notably, VVUP garnered significant attention prior to their comeback with a teaser promotion centered around the theme of 'Taemong' (a dream indicating the conception of a child). The group has been praised for reinterpreting Korean elements with their distinct trendy sensibility, leaving a unique impression on fans worldwide.

Member Kim expressed her excitement, stating, "As it's our debut mini-album, I believe it most clearly expresses VVUP's identity. I actively participated in the production process, naturally weaving in my own stories. I'm so happy to be able to share an album made with all my heart and full of effort and sincerity."

Paeon, an international member, shared, "It's wonderful to showcase VVUP's new music and visuals through 'VVON'. As a foreign member, it was an especially special album as I was able to learn a lot about Korean elements during the preparation process."

Su-yeon added, "It feels very meaningful and precious as it's our first mini-album released a year after our debut. I truly want to make VVUP's charm known to the public through this album." Ji-yun emphasized, "This album is particularly precious because we worked so hard on it. The title track 'Super Model' has a different vibe from the pre-released 'House Party,' and 'INVESTED IN YOU' is especially meaningful as our first fan song."

'VVON' comprises ten tracks in total, including five songs: the title track 'Super Model,' the fan song 'INVESTED IN YOU,' 'House Party,' 'Giddy Boy,' and '4 Life,' along with instrumental versions of each song. VVUP confidently stated that the album offers distinct charms in each track, making it one listeners will want to play on repeat.

Regarding the title track 'Super Model,' Ji-yun highlighted a key listening point: "The first chorus where all four members deliver the same lyrics with their individual charms." She elaborated on the focus on expressing the contrast between VVUP's usual bright and powerful mood and the new track's dreamy and mature atmosphere. The members practiced embodying the confidence and poise of 'super models' as depicted in the lyrics.

Addressing the 'Taemong' theme, which might be unfamiliar to international members, Kim shared a personal anecdote: "Although the concept of 'Taemong' doesn't exist in Indonesia, I first heard the story during preparations that it rained heavily on the day I was born and an old coconut tree in front of our house fell. It was fascinating as I heard it from my mother for the first time."

On reinterpreting Korean elements like goblins and tigers, Paeon stated, "We thought understanding Korean elements was important, so we studied a lot together as a group. We diligently prepared, researching goblins that exist not only in Korea but also in Indonesia and Thailand."

Su-yeon added, "To better understand and incorporate Korean elements into the concept, I personally researched goblins and tigers, creating PPT presentations. This significantly deepened my understanding of the album and concept."

VVUP hopes to be remembered as a group that chameleon-like adapts to any concept, showcasing a harmonious teamwork where each member's unique charm and strengths blend seamlessly.
