HYBE's New Latin Band Low Clika Makes Official Debut with First Single 'Camionetas Negras'
Low Clika, the new band under HYBE Latin America, has officially debuted with the release of their first single, ‘Camionetas Negras (Black Vans),’ on the 20th (local time).
‘Camionetas Negras’ is a track in the House Tumbado style, which fuses the traditional Mexican ballad, Corrido, with hip-hop and trap sounds. The rhythmic rap and vocals of the six members layered over a heavy beat are captivating to the listeners.
The song, meaning ‘Black Vans’ in Korean, features lyrics about embarking on a fun adventure with friends against the backdrop of Mexico City's night. The track's quality was further enhanced by the participation of renowned producer Wicked Outside and Latin Grammy winner JULiA LEWiS.
Low Clika was formed through ‘Pase a la Fama,’ a band audition program jointly produced by HYBE Latin America and the U.S. Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo. Members from the Mexico-U.S. border region combined traditional folk music, which became their musical background, with trap, urban, and pop elements to create a unique sound, garnering immense popularity throughout the broadcast.
The band comprises requinto guitarist Terry, vocalist Raki, drummer Memo, alto horn and trumpet player Ricky, bajo quinto player Agustín, and bassist Lalito. They create a powerful synergy with their extensive experience and passion.
Myrna Perez, General Manager of S1ENTO Records under HYBE Latin America, expressed her anticipation, stating, “All six members participate in songwriting, arrangement, and performance, building their own musical world. They will show a new evolution of regional Mexican music.” Juan S. Arenas, COO of HYBE Latin America, added, “Low Clika’s debut will be a meaningful case demonstrating how Chairman Bang Si-hyuk’s global artist development model contributes to the expansion of Mexican music.”
Netizens are reacting with excitement, commenting things like, 'Wow, HYBE is finally releasing a band!', 'The fusion of Mexican music and the K-pop system sounds so fresh,' and 'I'm looking forward to what kind of music they'll show us in the future.' Their debut has garnered significant interest.
