Lee Yi-kyung Breaks Silence on Privacy Rumors, Citing 'AI Manipulation' and Show Departure
Actor Lee Yi-kyung has directly addressed the recent privacy rumors that have surrounded him.
In a lengthy post on his social media on the 21st, Lee explained that he had refrained from commenting earlier due to his agency's request to wait until legal counsel was appointed and criminal complaints against the disseminators were filed.
He stated that he visited the Seoul Gangnam Police Station a few days ago to provide his testimony as a complainant, officially completing the legal process for charges including intimidation and defamation by false information.
"Every moment, I was filled with anger. Someone claiming to be a German individual, whose existence and identity are unknown, repeatedly sent threatening emails to the company months ago. The company, however, advised me there was no reason to engage in a truth dispute over false information, which calmed me down once more," he shared.
Lee also revealed that he was advised to leave the MBC show 'How Do You Play?' "It was claimed to be fabricated within a day and then disappeared. However, as a result, I was advised to leave the variety show, and we chose to step down voluntarily," he stated. He recounted a past controversy, 'noodle-chewing,' where he expressed reluctance but participated due to a request to rent a restaurant because of him, only to have his comment, 'This is for variety!' edited out.
He mentioned that for other variety shows, he was informed he would only appear via VCR, but he learned of his replacement through news reports. Currently, his filming schedules are proceeding without change. He recently completed filming the movie 'Generation Defect' and is actively engaged in projects including a Vietnamese film, an overseas drama, and other variety shows.
Lee emphasized his firm stance on strong legal action. "The conclusion you will be curious about is that once an arrest warrant is issued, the suspect will soon be identified. Even if they are in Germany, I will personally travel to Germany to submit the lawsuit. There will be absolutely no leniency for malicious commenters either," he stressed.
Finally, Lee expressed gratitude to his fans who trusted and waited for him, as well as to 'Solo Dilemma,' 'Brave Detectives,' 'Handsome Guys,' and all others who showed him trust and loyalty.
Following Lee Yi-kyung's statement, Korean netizens have shown strong support, commenting things like, "Finally, the truth is out," "I hope he gets justice," and "Fighting! Stay strong!"
