Mongolian Team Official Denies 'Physical: Asia' Rigging Claims, Urges Calm
Amidst controversy surrounding alleged rigging and biased judging in Netflix's 'Physical: Asia,' a representative from the Mongolian team has stepped forward to refute these claims and de-escalate the heated atmosphere.
Dulguun Enkhtsogt, the agency representative for the Mongolian team, posted a lengthy statement on his social media account on the 20th, addressing the allegations. Sharing a photo of the Mongolian team, he expressed gratitude to their supporters while urging them to consider the impact of their words.
"Creating conflict across borders and attacking Netflix or competing teams with unrelated remarks is unacceptable behavior," Enkhtsogt stated. He explained why such manipulation would be unrealistic, emphasizing that the show's creators, who aim to grow 'Physical: Asia' into a 'Netflix Olympics,' would never risk their reputation through such acts. He also highlighted the Korean team's advantage as experienced competitors in similar programs, having participated in previous seasons.
Enkhtsogt pointed out the psychological advantage of being the host nation, citing past sporting events. He acknowledged the immense pressure on the Korean team to win on home soil, knowing victory might still invite suspicion. Despite this, he affirmed that they emerged victorious.
He further emphasized the significant global recognition and appreciation the Mongolian team received through the show, proving their intelligence and strength beyond mere physicality. Receiving warm messages from various countries, he expressed his belief that gratitude towards the Korean organizers and Netflix is the appropriate response. Enkhtsogt concluded by encouraging Mongolian fans to channel their frustrations positively through sports and congratulated both Mongolia and South Korea on their 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Netizens reacted positively, with comments like 'The Mongolian official is right. Let's not spread baseless suspicions,' and 'The Mongolian team was amazing too! 2nd place is a proud achievement.' Many urged others to refrain from excessive online attacks that unfairly affect the athletes.
