Lee Si-young Sparks Debate Again with 'Ornament' Comment on Newborn Photoshoot
Actress Lee Si-young, who is embroiled in controversy for giving birth via embryo implantation without her ex-husband's consent, is once again drawing divided opinions online after sharing a video of her second daughter's 'born-art' photoshoot.
Legal experts had previously analyzed that criminal charges against Lee would be difficult, citing the absence of re-consent regulations in the Ethical Biotechnology Act for embryo implantation and the non-application of the presumption of legitimacy for children born outside of marriage. They also pointed out the need for institutional improvements.
Amidst the ongoing controversy, Lee Si-young posted on her personal social media, "How about me as this year's Christmas ornament? Merry Christmas in advance." along with a born-art video of her second daughter, who is 17 days old. The baby in the video was dressed in a Santa theme.
Born-art is a photography technique capturing the adorable moments of newborns. Regarding Lee's expression, some netizens reacted with discomfort, stating, "Even if she's pretty, calling a person an 'ornament' is excessive," and "It feels like the child is being treated as a prop."
However, others offered a different perspective, with comments like, "She's just saying it affectionately, why are you so sensitive?" and "It's just a Christmas expression, let's not overinterpret." There's also an analysis that due to the recent embryo implantation issue, all of Lee Si-young's statements are being perceived sensitively.
