Kimchi, once just a side dish, is now emerging as a keyword for future industries. Actress Park Ha-sun and Professor Seo Kyeong-deok, a global ambassador for the World Institute of Kimchi Science, have joined forces to release a video promoting the future value of kimchi.

To commemorate 'Kimchi Day' on November 22nd, Professor Seo Kyeong-deok and Park Ha-sun, alongside the World Institute of Kimchi Science, unveiled a 4 minute and 30 second video titled 'The Power of Science Opens the Future of Kimchi'. This initiative marks the beginning of a project to introduce the present and future of kimchi globally, starting with a Korean version and later expanding to multilingual versions.

The video does not solely portray kimchi as a traditional fermented food. It focuses on kimchi's potential as a key future resource that can be integrated with various industries such as biotech, medicine, and cosmetics. The video visually explores kimchi's potential, which is being recognized as a 'global superfood' due to its known health benefits, including anti-obesity and anti-cancer properties.

Crucially, the video conveys a message that maintaining Korea's status as the origin of kimchi in the global era requires more than just traditional manufacturing methods. It emphasizes that the fusion of tradition with advanced scientific technology – in other words, 'kimchi enhanced by science' – will determine future competitiveness.

Professor Seo Kyeong-deok, who planned this project, stated, "I wanted to inform people that kimchi is recognized not just as a representative Korean food, but as a 'global superfood' for its diverse health functionalities like anti-obesity and anti-cancer." He added, "Its popularity is such that 'Kimchi Day' is celebrated in countries like the US and the UK, and it is currently exported to about 90 countries worldwide, demonstrating its significant status."

Park Ha-sun, who provided the narration, expressed her joy, saying, "I am happy to introduce the future of kimchi through my voice on 'Kimchi Day'." She added, "I hope many netizens, both domestically and internationally, will watch the video and feel the charm of kimchi anew."

As kimchi transcends Korean dining tables to become a health food sought after by people worldwide, this 'Future of Kimchi' video serves as a preview of how far kimchi's potential can expand.

Netizens reacted positively, with comments like 'Park Ha-sun's narration is great! Looking forward to the kimchi future video,' 'It's fascinating how kimchi is being integrated with science,' and 'It's so proud that our kimchi is a global superfood!'
