Actress Nam Bo-ra Expresses Deep Concern for Her Sister Pursuing Acting: "Worried About Her Loneliness on Set"

Actress Nam Bo-ra has openly shared her struggles in the entertainment industry, revealing her heartfelt concerns for her younger sister, Nam Se-bin, who is also pursuing an acting career.

In a YouTube video uploaded on the 21st titled "When my sister said she wanted to act... I was really surprised (Really?) The sisters' true feelings revealed for the first time" on her channel 'Nam Bo-ra's Life Theater,' Nam Bo-ra sat down with her sister for a heart-to-heart talk during an outing in Suwon.

"You know we're filming like this, but when you first said you wanted to act, I was genuinely surprised," Nam Bo-ra began. "I still vividly remember that moment when you, with your youthful face, said, 'I want to act,' while wearing a school uniform."

She confessed that her initial reaction was, "Why all of a sudden?" and admitted, "I also thought you might change your mind after trying for a bit." When Nam Se-bin asked if she had hoped for that, Nam Bo-ra honestly replied, "I didn't have that kind of wish. If you want to do it, you want to do it."

Nam Se-bin reflected, "Perhaps it's because you've walked this path before. You always told me, 'This path isn't easy, so you need to be really alert.' I thought maybe subconsciously you were saying that because you didn't want me to go through the same struggles you did, based on your experiences."

Nam Bo-ra clarified, "It wasn't from that perspective. I was worried you might get hurt. It was more like, 'Steel yourself.' There are many things that can hurt you. Especially in the beginning, as a rookie, you face constant disregard. I thought, 'She's going through a lot, I hope she endures it well,' which is why I spoke so sternly, telling you to be strong."

Nam Se-bin shared, "My family asked, 'Why does Bo-ra unni only criticize you?' And I said, 'She's just telling me to be alert working here.'" Nam Bo-ra recalled a time her sister got furious with her, saying, "You once cried and yelled at me, 'You don't know anything, stop telling me what to do!' Seeing you lose your temper at me made me realize I made a big mistake. From then on, I tried to be more careful and tried hard to think of you and me separately."

She continued, tears welling up, "There was a day I sat in front of the camera and felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness. I realized that even after working for a long time, this is a truly lonely profession. Then one day, I was filming with a girl your age, and she reminded me of you. I thought, 'Even I feel so lonely after working for so long, how lonely must she feel? Se-bin must feel so lonely on set too.' I thought about that a lot. But I always had people by my side, which is why I could endure it. But you, going through it alone…" she trailed off, finally breaking down in tears.

"That's probably why I worry about you so much," Nam Bo-ra confessed, her voice thick with emotion. "Even though I don't express it, when you tell me you're going to film, I worry if you'll be okay, if you'll do well." Nam Se-bin also teared up upon hearing her sister's sincere words.

Trying to lighten the mood, Nam Bo-ra added with a smile, "But you always come back having done well and looking strong, so maybe you are okay on your own. Honestly, I hope you succeed even more, and I hope I can benefit from your success." Nam Se-bin laughed, asking, "So that's the conclusion?" Nam Bo-ra jested, "I hope you get some good gifts too," before concluding with serious advice: "Most importantly, don't lose your drive."
