George Lucas's Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Set to Open in LA on September 22
The long-cherished dream of George Lucas, the visionary behind the 'Star Wars' and 'Indiana Jones' franchises, is finally coming to fruition.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, founded by Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson, will officially open its doors on September 22nd next year at Exposition Park in Los Angeles (LA).
The museum focuses on how 'narrative' connects people and expands experiences into art. Lucas stated, "Stories are myths, and when expressed visually, they help us understand the mysteries of life." Hobson added, "This is a space for people's art. We hope visitors discover their humanity within the works."
Designed by renowned Chinese architect Ma Yansong, the futuristic building will house an extensive collection of approximately 40,000 works. Visitors can explore pieces spanning popular culture and fine art, including 20th-21st century murals, comic art, children's book illustrations, and sci-fi illustrations, under themes like 'Love,' 'Family,' and 'Adventure.'
Poised to become a new cultural landmark in LA, the Lucas Museum is expected to create synergy with the existing Hollywood industry and attract tourists from around the globe.
Netizens are expressing excitement, with comments like "Finally, Director Lucas's dream is coming true!", "LA has another must-visit spot! Looking forward to it!", and "I'm curious to see what works will be exhibited."
