Lee Hong-gi Surprises with First-Ever Stage Cross-dressing for Musical 'Sugar' on 'Amazing Saturday'

FT Island's talented vocalist, Lee Hong-gi, recently made a guest appearance on the popular tvN variety show ‘Amazing Saturday’ (also known as ‘Nolto’).

During his appearance on the episode aired on the 22nd, Lee Hong-gi, who is currently starring in the musical ‘Sugar,’ shared insights into his challenging new role.

He revealed, “In the musical ‘Sugar,’ based on an original film, my character has to disguise himself as a woman to escape gangsters. This is my very first time cross-dressing on stage since my debut.” This announcement surprised both the cast and viewers alike.

Lee Hong-gi further elaborated on the difficulties of makeup, expressing his admiration for women who maintain their looks throughout the day. “I was really surprised to learn that women often extend their eyeliner for photoshoots. I can’t imagine how you all manage to keep up with such elaborate eye makeup all day. It’s truly remarkable,” he exclaimed, looking towards comedian Park Na-rae.

However, Park Na-rae, known for her elaborate transformations, appeared on the show in a demure hanbok with minimal makeup that day. This led to an amusingly awkward moment for Lee Hong-gi, who was taken aback. Park Na-rae playfully responded, “But I’m barely wearing any makeup today,” diffusing the situation with a laugh.
