Veteran actress Kim Yong-rim recently revealed the heartfelt reasons behind surrendering her driver's license, sharing her bittersweet experience on a television program.

During the MBN variety show 'Soripuri Show Dongchimi,' which aired on the 22nd, the topic 'Is Getting Old a Sin?' sparked candid conversations among celebrities, including Kim Yong-rim and Lee Yeon-soo.

Kim Yong-rim, who is now 85 years old, shared, "After turning 80, my children told me not to drive, and I didn't have many opportunities to drive anyway." She admitted, "There are times when I feel upset or suddenly want to go out. The gym is about a 10-minute walk away, but it feels like an awkward distance to walk, so I wish I could drive then."

Her voice trembled as she confessed, "My children told me to surrender it because my reaction time has slowed down. That statement made me so sad."

Before returning her license, Kim Yong-rim learned from a friend that she would receive a transportation card with 100,000 won upon surrender. Hesitant to face potential nagging from her daughter, she visited the community center alone. "When I went, they really gave me the transportation card," she shared, eliciting laughter.

Previously, Kim Yong-rim had also disclosed the immense grief she experienced after the passing of her husband, the late Nam Il-woo, even suffering from auditory hallucinations.

Netizens expressed sympathy and support, with comments like "Mom, safety comes first when driving...", "It's heartbreaking to give up your license," and "Please stay healthy!"
