'Homegrown Adventures' Cast Embarks on Wild Hokkaido Fishing Trip Amidst Bear and Poisonous Plant Warnings
The cast of tvN's 'Homegrown Adventures: Hokkaido Edition' – Sung Dong-il, Kim Hee-won, Jang Na-ra, and Ryu Hye-young – bravely tackled a wild valley fishing challenge in Hokkaido.
In the episode aired on the 23rd, Ryu Hye-young, known for her role in 'Reply 1988' alongside Sung Dong-il, joined the cast. During their travel, Sung Dong-il expressed a desire to extend their stay, to which Ryu Hye-young readily agreed, admitting she had already rebooked her flight for a later date. "It's not just about where you go, but who you go with that makes a trip important," she shared, delighting Sung Dong-il.
After spotting wild deer, the group arrived at a wild valley fishing center. Upon hearing about the presence of bears, the cast, especially Ryu Hye-young, expressed surprise and apprehension. The fishing guide reassured them, stating there haven't been any bear-related incidents in over a century and that they would follow a path that avoids bear encounters.
To further ensure safety, the guide demonstrated the use of bear spray and showed them bear bells attached to their pants, which are designed to alert bears of their presence. Sung Dong-il and Ryu Hye-young teamed up against Kim Hee-won and Jang Na-ra for a fishing competition. However, as the fish weren't biting, they decided to move to a different spot.
During their exploration, they encountered signs of bear activity, including claw marks on a tree, and were warned about a highly poisonous plant called 'Aconitum' (Tusflower). The guide lightened the mood with a humorous remark, offering to send the plant to anyone unforgivable back in Korea, to which Sung Dong-il playfully responded, "Should I get some for Hee-won?"
Netizens reacted positively to Ryu Hye-young's appearance, with comments like 'So glad Ryu Hye-young joined!', 'I was so tense when they mentioned bears', and 'Glad they fished safely'. Fans expressed excitement about the cast's chemistry and the beautiful Hokkaido scenery.
