Bong Tae-gyu Reveals Impassioned Decision for 'A Deliciously Sweet Death': 'Signed On in 2.5 Hours!'
The press and distribution premiere for the film 'A Deliciously Sweet Death' (original title: 'Go-dang-do') was held on November 24th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul.
Director Kwon Yong-jae, alongside actors Kang Mal-geum, Bong Tae-gyu, Jang Ri-woo, and Jung Soon-bum, were in attendance.
'A Deliciously Sweet Death' is a black comedy that follows a family's fake funeral business, aiming to secure their nephew's medical school tuition using the deceased father's condolence money.
Reflecting on his involvement, Bong Tae-gyu shared, "I first met the director in 2023 through a short film he produced. That's where our connection began, and he casually mentioned a project, saying he'd write a script with me in mind."
He continued, "I read it in one sitting and found it incredibly fun. I particularly liked the idea of playing a father to a high schooler, especially since I'm, well, quite a bit older than that," he chuckled.
"Those aspects aligned perfectly with what I wanted to express. I felt I could portray it with enjoyment," Bong Tae-gyu explained. "From the script itself, I felt assured, thinking, 'This is something I can do confidently.' I contacted them to confirm my participation just 2.5 hours after reading the script."
'A Deliciously Sweet Death' is set to premiere on December 10th.
Netizens expressed surprise at Bong Tae-gyu's swift decision, commenting, "As expected of Bong Tae-gyu! His eye for projects is outstanding," "A father to a high schooler! Really looking forward to the character," and "Can't wait to see it!"
